Part One: The Good
In this book, you’re going to meet two groups of people. And here’s the difference between them: the first group believes in God and the second one doesn’t. And in my opinion, the first group is right and the second one is wrong.
But you don’t have to take my word for it. You can judge for yourself. Which group do you think is right? Which group of men do you respect and admire? And which group do you want to be a part of?
The first group consists of the Founding Fathers of America. They said in the Declaration of Independence, “We are endowed by our Creator with certain unalienable rights, among them are life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness.”
And they also said, “And for the support of this Declaration, with a firm Reliance on the Protection of divine Providence, we mutually pledge to each other our Lives, our Fortunes, and our sacred Honor.”
One of these men was Patrick Henry. Pay close attention to his words. Because they are as true today as they were when he spoke them in 1776. He said:
“Three millions of people, armed in the holy cause of liberty, and in such a country as that which we possess, are invincible by any force which our enemy can send against us.”
And he also said: “There is a just God who presides over the destinies of nations, and will raise up friends to fight our battles for us. The battle, sir, is not to the strong alone; it is to the vigilant, the active, the brave.”
“Is life so dear, or peace so sweet, as to be purchased at the price of chains and slavery? Forbid it, Almighty God, I know not what course others may take; but as for me, give me liberty or give me death.”
